Walk A Thon For Roots of Empathy/ Red Cross

Posted: May 17, 2011

Congratulations to Ian Baillie staff and students for raising $260.00 by collecting recycled bottles.  This money will be donated to the Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.  Good work Ian Baillie!  On Friday, May 20th at 10:30 the students and staff of Ian Baillie Primary School will participate in an In motion Walkathon on school track the track. This event will raise awareness of the Roots of Empathy program and help provide funds for the training of community volunteers as instructors. The mission of Roots of Empathy is to build caring, peaceful and civil societies, child by child, through the development of empathy in children. Our school has had this program for 4 years and there are currently 16 programs in District 16 and 2 First Nation communities in our region. Since 2002, 13,000 students in New Brunswick have experienced the program. There will be a prize for the school that raises the most funds and our Home & School has agreed to make a donation to this fund instead of us sending home pledge sheets. Parents are more than welcome to come and walk with us.
