In math we are wrapping up a unit on patterning. Students know that the core of a pattern is the section that repeats. Students can identify what attributes are changing or repeating in a pattern such as: shape, size, direction or color. They can add to a pattern and put in the missing piece. They have worked with number patterns and increasing and decreasing patterns.       We have begun counting by ten starting at any number from 1 to 100. For instance if I said count by tens starting at 44 students would answer; 54, 64, 74, 84, 94. They are aware to use the hundreds chart to guide them adding ten to a number means they go down a column, taking ten away means they go up a column. Adding 1 to any given number means they look 1 to the right. Taking 1 away from a number rquires them to look to the left of a number.      In grammar we are working on what makes a sentence which is a person or thing plus what they did. We have also worked on capitalization and proper punctuation!     We have been talking about Terry Fox in You and Your World. We are also discussing whats schools were like many years ago.
