The Grade 2's have been engaged in learning about the Titanic! In "You And Your World," we focus on the use of technology and how the Titanic lacked this key component before it sunk over 100 years ago.

We had a great morning in grade 2! In math, the class solved problems by working with number lines. It was a great visual for the students. Miss.Robichaud did a short mini-lesson on procedural writing, and everyone participated in modeled writing. The students are ready to start their own procedural writings as early as tomorrow! Have a good night, rest up & see you bright and early!Mrs.Hache & Miss.Robichaud

Grade 2 BlogThe start of a New Year has come, and the students of Mrs.Hache's grade two class are back on schedule at Ian Baillie. My name is Miss (Jillian) Robichaud, and I will be working with Mrs.Hache as a student intern from Crandall University. I hope to update "Grade 2's Blog" daily, providing you with photos, notes, and maybe even a video or two! Check back soon for more updates! You & Your World: Today, the students learned about how one becomes an olympian. The students were so engaged in the different vidoes, such as how a figure skating team trained for the olympics, as well as the effort and harddedication it takes to be a top althete in this year's 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. There is so much to learn, and as a class we will be focusing on Russia, and the upcoming Winter Olympics in the days to come! Have a great day! See you tomorrow Mrs.Hache & Miss Robichaud

Dear Parents, The following few weeks we are going to be piloting a new project as part of our writing unit.  At the end of each day I will post a question to the class webpage for student to answer.  The answers will guide the creation of our story!  They will answer this question by sending information directly to the class smartboard by using a home computer, or text message.  Monday to Thursday I will post a new ID number and a new question for the student to answer.   You will be asked to go to www.add2nb.com then enter todays ID number and the students name.  After student enter their names and click on connect to join the session so you can answer the question of the day.   Todays ID number is: 65166702 Todays TEST Question is : What is something that Mrs. Hache loves? I will be speaking with the students tomorrow, and we will be learning as we go!   Thank you for you participation and your patience!   65166702

Today was another busy day in Grade Two. We are now up to 8 min with our Daily Five. We are working on Read to Self and Write to Self. The children seem to be very excited about this.  We started to work on our printing, lower case a and b.  In math we continue to work on describing and extending repeating patterns. We have reinforced these concepts through art class. The children have created patterns on a paper blanket and on fish. So far they seem to have a good grasp of what has been covered to date. Just a reminder that we have a spelling test tomorrow. Please remember to send in home link dou tangs each day!   Thanks Paula Have a good night!

The children are settling into their routines each day. Today we did three rounds of the Daily Five. The students are reading to self for 7 minutes independently. Our aim in grade two is no less than 25 minutes/session. We also began write to self  and had a great start.   In math we continue to work on patterns . We are creating and identifying the core of patterns and looking at patterns as they occur in nature.         I ask that your child bring in their home link duo tangs each day so they can be marked. Also our class has been on the National Geographic web site. There is a special place for kids and there is some fun and interesting activities to do. That it for today. Hope to see you Wednesday night for Meet The Teacher!    Mrs. Hache
