It was Career Day today at JMH for the grade 9 students and I got to bring my eldest son Griffin to Ian Baillie Primary with me today!  He was a great helper and the students loved having him there!

PEEK INTO OUR WEEK!!!  November 2nd to November 6th           Language Arts: We continue to work on letter and sound identification.  We continue to develop oral language through read alouds, rhymes, and songs.  We have also been working on recognizing and reading our first set of sight words.  Don't forget to practice these at home as well!    Math: We are working on sets of numbers and number quantities.  Can you count how many letters are in your name? Remembrance Day Song: Every day we have been practicing our song, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands", and getting ready for our Remembrance Day program, which will be November 10th.   Reminders for the Week: Remember to practice reading your books and sight words every night. Please return all fundraising forms and money a.s.a.p.

PEEK INTO OUR WEEK!!! October 19 to October 23           Language Arts: Each day we continue to work on our letter name and sound identification by singing our Zoo Phonics song and learning the actions for each animal.  This week we are continuing to work on our beginning letter sounds.  We continue to work on rhyme and syllable awareness as well.     Math: We are working on number quantities and the concepts of more than, less than, and equal to.  If I have 6 cookies and Ms. Clark has cookies, who has more?   Reminders for the Week: Ø Homework went home today.  Remember to practice reading your books and sight words every night. ØPlease remember to wear a warm coat, boots, hat and mittens.  We go outside every day for little and big recess and it is getting chilly out there!

PEEK INTO OUR WEEK!!! October 5 to October 7   Language Arts: Each day we continue to work on our letter name and sound identification by singing our Zoo Phonics song and learning the actions for each animal.  This week we are continuing to work on our beginning letter sounds.  What letter and sound does your name start with?  We are also learning how to print our name nice and neat using an upper case letter at the beginning and the rest in lower case. Math: We are continuing to work on patterns this week.  We are having lots of fun building our own patterns!   Reminders for the Week: Ø Remember to practice reading your books and sight words every night. Ø No school on Thursday and Friday due to teacher’s professional development meetings. Ø No school on Monday, October 12 as we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day!  What are you thankful for? Have a super week and a great LONG weekend!!!
PEEK INTO OUR WEEK!!!  September 28 to October 2   Language Arts: Each day we continue to work on our letter name and sound identification by singing our Zoo Phonics song and learning the actions for each animal.  We are also learning about rhyme and beginning to learn about alliteration (the sound a word begins with).  How could you finish this sentence? Lola likes ________. Math: We are learning to sort items based on a single attribute- color, shape, size, etc.  We are also working on patterns.  We are learning to identify “what comes next” and also building our own patterns. Reminders for the Week: Ø Homework went home today.  Remember to practice reading your books and sight words every night. Ø  Picture day on Wednesday, September 30th. Ø End of the Month Assembly on Friday, October 2nd at 12:30pm.

We had a surprise visitor to our class today, Isabella!!!  She was in Miramichi visiting family for Christmas and decided to spend a day at school with us!  We were so happy to see her before she leaves again!!!
