Today, I read the book The Girl Wouldn't Brush her Hair. Next we had our spelling test and played an interactive soccer game on the computer using our word wall words. At 9:30 we were fortunate to have our district math mentor, Mrs. Sarah Dalton come into our room to play some games to help us with counting by twos to 30. She also played a game identifying even and odd numbers. Due to the rain we had to stay in at recess. After recess we did a short math quiz and counted by tens using different starting points such as 3, 13 23 33,43, 53, 63, 73, 83, 93, 103. At 10:55 students eagerly joined Mrs. Hache for gym.

This afternoon we had guided reading and a round of Daily Five. Finally students went to the computer lab where they played math games form the web links section of my website. Have a great weekend!

Today was another exciting day for the students at Ian Baillie Primary. First thing this morning we had a presentation from Miramichi Fire Department on fire safety. Going home Friday is a Fire Safety booklet. I encourage you to make an escape plan in case of fire and to fill out the ballot to win  "Fire Chief for a Day." After recess we read two stories; Do you Really Want a Turtle and Animal Migrations. Next we discussed the excellent traits I noticed in the students writing such as the use of sequencing words (First, Next, Then, After that and Finallydetails and "wow" words! To finish off our morning students had gym class with Mrs. Hache.

This afternoon, Mrs. McLenaghan came into our class to discuss "teeth" in preparation for baby Ben's next visit on Thursday, October 20th. Finally, I had a guided reading session and students did a Daily Five activity (Read to Self, Writing, Word Work or Listening Center). Most importantly it was Alexis Patterson's birthday today, Happy Birthday, Alexis!

Today was an exciting day! After storytime the entire school went to Saint Andrews Elementary to see the Celtic band called the Rathskallions.. The Rathaskallions sang many fun songs and intoduce us to a variety of instruments. When we got back we did a few yoga poses and quickly went outside to enjoy the beautiful day!

After lunch we had a visit from our Roots Empathy Public Health Nurse, Susan McLenaghan. She discussed why babies cry. We read from the book Junie B. and The Stupid Smelly Bus and did a counting circle where we counted by 2's to 100 and counted by 10's from any starting number. We also went outside to play for our physical education class.

Today, we read about locusts in a book entitled, Stories of Migration. We also read a book called I'm Bored. Next, we sounded out the words energy and suddenly, this is easy for us as we know we need a vowel in each syllable. After that, we discussed our Thanksgiving Holiday and each child chose a small moment from their weekend to write about. Then students went for some exercise in the gym with Mrs. Hache. We had a Daily Five and guided reading session in the afternoon. We also read from the chapter book, Junie B. and The Stupid Smelly Bus. Finally we had math class where we counted by tens starting at any number, for example 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51,, 61, 71, 81, 91, 101.
