Today was our first day for doing the Ian Baillie Morning Announcements!  That means our mornings might get a little bit confusing for the next week or so until Mr. McCallum figures out what he is doing!  We learned about locust today, and how to use Mango's to help find a missing gold chain (although I dont recommend it).  In Math we continued with working from the book on patterns.  We are still working with Pattern rules.  You can make up any pattern (Start with ____ and _____ each time).  Good luck!  Gym today was Tally Tuesday!  We had guidance with Mr. Murphy and in Science we discussed compost.  Tomorrow is Hot Lunch day, and this weekend is the fall fair.  Busy busy!  See you tomorrow.

Today we read about Marley's "Great Escape" attempts.  The first attempt was do to the weather, and the second because of him trying to get some fresh air.  Do you remember what happened?  In Math we worked with our senteo's and writing questions out of the text book.  In Science we talked about compost, and Mr. McCallum may be asking to share some of your lunch tomorrow.   Im sorry for the late post, but we left immediately after school to go to NSEE for the cross country meet!  Im still excited because our grade 3's did so well!   I hope we get some pictures up soon!  See you in the morning :)

Friday the 13th!!! Lucky for us it was a great day!  I wrote in the agenda today to get the permission slips signed, but they all came back signed!  Only one day sending them home!  WOW!!!! We learned the importance of teaching a dog to stop when you are training him, how to draw a fish bone, and some great ways to show (instead of tell) that you are happy!  In math today we started to learn to play chess!  In PE we had a special guest teacher!  No one told me what they did, but I bet Mrs. Hache probably made them do push-ups the entire class!  In science we finished with our soil samples chart and in Social Studies we worked on our communities.  We ended the day with music and one of my favorite happy songs!   Have a great weekend, SEE YOU MONDAY!

Today we learned how to sketch a baby panda, what happens when you kick a dog out of school, and lots of other cool things!   In math we used our senteo's to help review two digit addition.  Addition has a pattern in that you follow the same steps every single time, no matter how big or how many numbers you are adding.  We had Language arts with Miss Gallant.  After recess we had gym, and then we went upstairs and did some observation charts in science.   We reviewed the six components of soil.  In art Mrs. Hache came in to help out!  She was probably mean, but the class was very nice to her anyway and pretended to be excited about it!  I did send home a form for short excursions that needs to be signed and returned as soon as possible.  One more day until the weekend!  I cant believe how fast the week flew by.  Get lots of rest and see you in the morning!

Another busy day! The Hot Lunch memo's went home today on the inside of the agenda's.  In math we had a senteo quiz based on our math vocabulary (I put a copy of the vocabulary flash cards on this site today).   Learning Math is sometimes like learning a new language.   We continued to work on our Pattern Rules.  Do you know my pattern rule for this pattern : 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18.....Start with______ and _______ each time. We stayed in for recess and Miss Gallant was kind enough to invite us into her classroom for a playdate!  (My class lacks toys and games, it has most certainly been brought to my attention by the students and will be addressed).   We had our first practice for cross country at lunch followed by an awsome lightning show!   I hope all the students give cross country a try!  It is a great experience for all grade 3's.  In PE we had our Tally Tuesday (even though it is Wednesday).  The students had lots of fun building their communities in social studies!  We are also starting to learn some basic computer skills in the lab.  Hope to see you at meet the teacher tonight at 6:30.

Sorry for the very late post!  I almost forgot!  We had a very busy day today!  We worked on our "Showing NOT telling" writing sentences.  Today we used the "Tell" sentence "she was sad".  How would you show that she was sad in your writing instead of telling the audience?  In our book, Marley, found his new favorite toy!  Do you remember what it was?  In Math we worked on Senteo's and concentrated on using "Pattern Rules".   Maybe you can make a pattern rule.   (START WITH______ AND _______ EACH TIME).  In science we went out and got some soil samples and looked at the scientific method.   We went outside for gym with Mr. Cormier and in music we worked on one of Mr. McCallum's Favorite songs!  Tomorrow is Meet the Teacher!   I hope to see you there.

We had a full Monday!  Do you remember the name that John and Jenny gave to their puppy?  They named him after a famous reggae musician named Bob...?  This dog has some things to learn about travelling in the car and sleeping at night. We had our bus evacuation practice early this morning.   In Math we practiced with the senteo controlers and started to do book work out of the text book.  Many of the students were very excited to start playing soccer in gym class today.  In science we learned about the different parts of soil.  Do you remember some of them (rock, organic material, humus, sand, silt, clay)?  In social studies we continued to work on community.  The school canteen is open and in full swing!  All items are either $0.50 or $1.00.    Meet the Teacher is this Wednesday night at 6:30, hope to see you there!

The first week flew by!  We had our first fire drill this morning, it was the best "exit time" we've had in several years!  Great Job!  We read about a "clearance dog", he sounded perfect!  That is until we met who?  In Math we did our first Senteo quiz of the year!  The students liked them, so we will try and use them every week!  Although I was not impressed with results of the very last question on the quiz!  I made a giant YES!!! and some students still put NO!  We played some tag games in gym and Mr. Muphy talked with us as well.  I think he may be looking for some peer helpers very soon.   In Science we talked about some of the attributes (describing words) we could use with our soil sample (a small piece that shows what the rest is like).  Miss Gallant did some bus safety that we will be finishing up on Monday and unfortunately we ran out of time for music.  Next week will be a full week, that will be full of learning!  Rest up this weekend and I will see you bright and early on Monday!
