The day after Halloween and we still managed to put in a full and productive day!  We started out by opening an email from Miramichi Rural.  We got to see Miss Reid's class and are excited to learn all their names.  We finished our last 2 Km for the walk a thon first thing this morning.  We are asking to send back the pledge sheets on Monday.  (Blank sheets can be found at http://ianbaillie.nbed.nb.ca/document/pledge-sheet )  We learned how to use our new word wall and writing binders in language arts.  At recess we had Choir.  We are confirmded now for next Friday.  The choir will be performing their songs at The Mount in the afternoon, as will all the grade 3's who will be reciting "Flanders Fields".  I hope you are practicing at home.  In math we continued to work on our number lines, and organized our duotangs from the week.  At lunch the 2/3's who consistantly showed up for soccer (attendance was taken)  had a small pizza party in the gym!  After lunch we had an assembly!  Congratulations to this month's I-Care winner Tricia McNeil!  She deserved it!  Also.......  REPEAT CHAMPIONS!!!  Picture of the day today, 3M wins the Loose Change Award again!   We had a "Lock Down" drill during music today.  Awesome job, everyone remained calm and quiet.  In Art today we talked about "perspective" and painted some poppies.  Whats "perspective"?  We finished out the day with a little song Mr. McCallum played for Miss Gallant, do you remember what it was?  Have a great weekend and dont eat too much junk!

Good Morning, Today is Friday November 1st, 2013.  Welcome to our grade 3 Class news letter.  Every once in a while we work together as a class to tell you about some of the exciting things going on in our lives and in our class!  Halloween was last night and we have a ton of things to tell you!  Mikey got enough candy to last him a full year!  Kaitlin was a Lagoon Blue Monster High.   Georgia was a cheetah!  She moved very fast from house to house!  Lillian was a baseball player, she was number two for the Boston Red Sox's.  Mitchell and Ryan are both afraid they may pass out today because they are so tired.  Everyone stayed up a little late last night.  Thomas has made a 2ft tall pile of chips at his house.  I wonder if he jumps in them like a pile of leaves?  Jacob is excited that the next holiday is Christmas and he has his eye on the Angry Birds trilogy. It was an awesome Halloween and Mr. McCallum hopes you eat, throw out, or give away all of your candy this weekend.  Until next time, have a great weekend, Mr. McCallums Grade 3 Class

What an unbelievable day!  We started off by finding out who shaved my beard when I dosed off!  I KNEW IT WAS HER!   We didnt want to miss gym because of the Halloween dance, so we did our 2km first thing this morning.  We did our doodle of the pink panther, which made someone very happy!  Do you remember who?  Just before we went to recess we got a special treat from Miss Reid!  Which Halloween decorated cookie did you get?  There was no choir at recess because the gym was being decorated for the dance.  After recess we had Language Arts.  I think most of the Halloween stories are now complete.  It was a beautiful day outside at lunch and after we ate we got changed for the school Halloween Dance!  Lots of people won prizes!   Did you get a prize?  After the dance we came back and handed out some treats.  We also had a special guest show up and surprise us, or we surprised him rather!  Mr. Savoy was very impressed with the creeper heads we made to match his Minecraft Steve head.  That made our picture of the day today.  Which one is you?  We finished off the day with a little bit of a Pattern Jeopardy challenge.  I was very impressed with how well you knew your pattern vocabulary.  I couldn't trick anyone!  Have fun trick or treating tonight and stay safe!

It was a very busy day today.  We learned a little about wolves today to start out our day, and got a nice letter!  Do you remember who it was from?  In Language Arts we put some finishing touches on our Halloween stories.  There was no choir at recess because it was "baby day" in the gym.  In math we worked on our number lines.  At lunch today the last game of organized soccer was played on the field.  Do you remember who won?  At lunch today I must have fallen asleep for a few minutes and disaster struck!  Georgia took a picture to show the damage!  This is not how I wanted to become the picture of the day!  In PE we walked our 2KM.  In Social Studies we worked on our posters.  In computer we talked about how to save an image to our H Drive.  If you save a picture on your H Drive does it matter what computer you use?  Tomorrow the Halloween Dance starts at 12:30.  Please NO face make up, and remember dont wear your costume to school, bring it in a bag and change into it later.  I guess I wont be going as a Duck Dynasty guy now :(

We started the day in a little bit of chaos, because of some technical difficulties with the morning announcements, but we bounced back quickly.  We learned to doodle a tree, which was more difficult than it sounds, and we tested out our skype connection.  Do you remember who we spoke with?  Georgia made some healthy halloween treats for the class.  We had them right before we "peeled" off to choir and recess.  Today we have a picture of Mikey, is he eating a healthy snack or Halloween treat?  I guess we'll never know!  In Language Arts we worked on our Halloween stories.  Most people are just about done their drafts, and starting their final copy!  Will yours be ready for Halloween?  At lunch today many of us played soccer.  It was a tie game!  The last game is tomorrow, it should be a good one!   In PE  we walked our 10 laps for the walk-a-thon fundraiser.  Mr. Murphy came in today and talked to us about peer helpers.  He asked an interesting question, "Do you think fire fighters and police men get upset when nothing happens on their shift?"  What do you think?  Why did he ask this?  We finished off the day with Social Studies and began to work on our Remembrance Day posters.  Mr. McCallum said there are lots of rules for making a great poster, but gave everyone his top 5 rules!  Do you remember any of them?  Since he said ther are just suggestions are you going to follow any of them?  Hot Lunch tomorrow and Halloween Dance on Thursday!  Remember NO face make up.  Have a great night.

Welcome to our grade 3 report!  We started out the day today rehearsing Flanders Fields with both grade 3 classes.  Rememberance Day is coming up soon!  Today's picture of the day was taken just as we finished practicing our poem.  Jacob was sporting a big smile!  We had a bit of an unusual day today because we had gym in the morning, but we got our 2Km for the Walk-a-thon in!  There was nothing "miserable" about our warm up and we leaned about the Walrus.  Ryan made an interesting connection, do you remember what it was?  Trish brought in a little treat that we gobbled up just before recess.  Choir practiced again today at little recess.  After recess we had math.  We worked on counting forward and backwards using numberlines and hundreds charts.  After lunch we had Language Arts.  Today we worked on our Halloween stories.  After Language Arts we worked on Social Studies.  We are starting a new Social Studies Projects, what is yours on?   Here's a look back at an old morning announcment.  http://ianbaillie.nbed.nb.ca/announcements/morning-announcements-10242012  Why did we watch this?
