As you know the webpage changed just before Christmas and it was brought to my attention yesterday that this new layout allows for indentation and paragraphs!  Everyday I talk about indentation when we write our "First," for our "How to..." stories.  Do you know what identing means?

     First, we did our opening activities.  We did our spelling word "aircrew" and our "First," was for "How to eat fruits and vegetables".  We doodled a dog and put our old pages in our books. 

     Next, we went to language arts with Mrs. Hill.  We worked on making words using the letters from the word "hybernate".  How many words did you make?  We also did some daily five read to self and we worked on a groundhog day word search.

     Then, we had a quick recess break before math. In math we reviewed place value, did math with a friend flash cards or dice game, reviewed how to measure with a ruler, did some measuring sheets, and went over the months of the year.

     After that, we had lunch, and after lunch we went to the computer lab.  Once students either showed me their saved copy of their valley paint picture, or finished their paint picture they got free time on the computer before PE with Mrs. Hache.  What did you do in PE today?

     Finally, we came back to the classroom and read from the one and only Ivan.  What is special about Ivan and his two friends?  Where do they live?  We did our book of gratitude and got our agenda's signed. 

     Make sure you get lots of sleep tonight and dress warmly tomorrow with all this snow!  Have a great night and I will see you in the morning.

We started the day with our regular routine, our spelling word was "February", and our "First," was for "How to have a Foam Fight".  We doodled a dog, and went into our math.  Mr. Hayward was here today and got a chance to work with each student in Grade 2 briefly.  What kind of math questions did he ask you?  In math we had a listening quiz and practiced drawing lines different lengths (using cm) with our rulers.  We reviewed how the ruler works.  We talked about the months of the year.  Can you name all 12 Months?  We also did a measuring sheet for Math by Myself.  After recess we had Language Arts with Mrs. Hill.  We did a read aloud, did a Groundhog Day activity, did read to self, and guided reading, and used some time to finish up our Art Projects that are now in the hall way.  After lunch we had guidance with Ms. Mackenzie.  She worked on some "visualization" with us.  Which means we picture or pretend things in our minds.   What did you visualize today?  Next we had PE with Mrs. Hache.  We played two ended basketball.  We finished off the day talking about Groundhog's Day, we did our book of gratitude, signed our agenda's and called it a day.  If anyone needs more H&S tickets for the Valentines day draw please put a not in the agenda with how many books you would like.  Dress warm, get lots of sleep, and I will see you in the morning!

It was a busy Friday at Ian Baillie!  We started off with our spelling.  Our word today was "engineer", our story for "First," was "How to make a cool class picture".  We doodled a sea turtle for the last time. In language arts with Mrs. Hill we did reading buddies with grade one and step two of the art project we started on Monday!  We'll be set for next weeks art now!.  After recess we had our assembly and balloon car race.  Congratulations to Brody in Grade 3 who won again!  After lunch we did a guided writing story about a boy who lost his lucky skittles.  Do you remember the writing pattern we used?   It was game day in PE with Mrs. Hache.  I saw lots of beet red faces, so I know everyone ran hard.  We finished off the day with a quick bingo game.  We packed the February calendars into our agenda and got ready for home.  Have a fun and safe weekend and I will see you bright and early Monday morning!

Another fun day in grade 2 with lots of laughs and lots of learning!  We started off the day with our regular routine.  Our spelling word was "compressor", and our "First," was for a story called "How to Draw Anything".  We doodled a sea turtle and then started math.  In math we talked about how to use a ruler, starting at the zero mark, and using different units.  We practiced using some measurement sheets.  We are currently using cm, even though the ruler has mm too.  We also looked at the calendar and talked about being careful on questions that ask for the "day" verses the "date"!  Read and listen carefully!  After recess we had language arts with Mrs. Hill.   We did a read aloud, worked on daily 5 stations, guided reading, and some work work activities with homophones.  After a beautiful day outside and lunch we had library.  Every person returned their book and got a new book.  In PE we played basketball.  I watched the sideline basketball at the end!  WOW everyone played really hard!  The game went into overtime.  When we got back to the classroom I handed out the Home and School Tickets and notices for the valentines day draw, signed the agenda's, and the bell rang!  We have an assembly at 10:30 tomorrow after recess and all are welcome to attend.  Get lots of sleep, dress warm, and I will see you tomorrow for the last school day of the week!

It was a busy day today at Ian Baillie!  We started off with our spelling word "electricity".  How many syllables does "electricity" have?  Our "First," was for a story called "How to learn Chinese" and we doodled a sea turtle.  In Language Arts with Mrs. Hill we did a read aloud, our daily 5 activities, and homophone.  Whats a homophone?  (too, two, to).  After recess we had math.  In Math we had a 3 minute listening quiz on completing math sentences.  We talked about the days of the week and using a calendar.  We used a ruler and did some measuring sheets.  After we came in from outside we had hot lunch!  Thank you to all the volunteers that help make that possible!  After lunch we went to the computer room.  Everyone worked in the program PAINT to complete a valley scene.  I hope you saved yours properly so that you can have a free choice day next time we are in the lab!  After computer we had P.E.  We worked on our basketball skills and even played a game!  After PE we came back upstairs and wrote in our book of gratitude, got our agenda's signed, and got ready for home.  Friday is our monthly assembly at 10:30, dont forget your balloon cars, and please bring in any loose change for the loose change award.  Get lots of sleep, dress warm, and I will see you tomororow.

Today flew by!  We started off with our opening activities, our spelling word was "question" and our "First," was for a story called "How to go sliding".  We doodled a sea turtle.  In math we had a 3 minute listening quiz, played a dice game with a friend, worked on comparing objects, and talked about how rulers work and the importance of starting at zero.  After recess we went to language arts with Mrs. Hill.  We worked on our daily 5 skills.  In word work we did a word ladder, we did our guided reading groups, and we did a read aloud as well.  At lunch we had the sliding hill and had lots of fun!  After lunch we had music.  We tried working with the boomwacker tubes for the first time.  They were fun, but we need practice!  In PE we continued to work on basketball skills.  We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and getting our agenda's signed.  Remember Friday is the assembly!  Bring in your balloon cars to race and any loose change to help our class win the loose change award!  Get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!

Our spelling word today was "magician", and our "First," was for "How to do a Magic trick". We doodled a sea turtle and packed up our things for language arts.  In language arts we did a read aloud of the Fudge book.  We worked on our procedural writing for "How to Make Oreo Brownies".  We also worked in our journalsl.  After recess we had math.  We did a listening quiz, a subtraction sheet, played a dice game, and worked on comparing two different objects.  Which one is longer, taller, heavier? After lunch we had PE with Mrs. Hache and worked on our basketball skills.  Then we had Art with Mrs. Hill.  We started a new projects and got the mittens part completed.  We finished off the day with a 4 minute desk clean, and wrote in our book of gratititude.  We then got our agenda's signed and went home.  Dress warm, get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!

We started off the morning by doing the morning announcements in our classroom, check them out on the front page.  I am really happy that I dont even have to ask for the rest of the class to be respectful when we record, they just do!  After the bell we did our regular routine.  Our spelling word was "vacation", and our "First," was for "How to take a great vacation".  We doodled an elephant and went to Mrs. Hill's room for language arts.  In language arts we did a read aloud and worked on the daily five.  After recess we had math.  We did a listening quiz,flashcards with a friend, reviewed some mental math strategies, and did a subtraction worksheet.  After a fun outdoor recess we went to computer.  Today in computer we worked on internet saftety.  Next we had PE with Ms. Carroll and worked on some basketball skills.  We finished off the day with our book of gratitude, packed our agenda's (hot lunch and B&G notes).  We had a game in the gym and packed up to go home.  Dress warm, and get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning!
