The day flew by in grade 2! We started off the day reviewing our ZONES of Regulation. What zone were you in for the most of the day? Our spelling word today was "celebration". I hope you got the "shun" sound as "tion"! We did the "First," part of our story for "How to Build Ironman Armor". We doodled a flower and then did some math. In math we worked on telling math stories for simple addition. Can you tell a math story this math sentence 3+6=9? After recess we did our first practice of our Christmas songs: Blue Christmas and Its begining to look a lot like Christmas. They are tricky songs and we have some work to do! In Language Arts with Mrs. Hill we had a read-a-loud, readers workshop, and guided reading. After lunch we went to the library and changed our books. Then we went to PE with Mrs. Hache. We played games today, The Grinch is my favorite! After PE we took out a catapult with a special name and tried firing some bean bags in the gym. We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and our agenda's. We have an assembly at 12:30 tomorrow. Dress warm and get lots of sleep! I will see you in the morning!

Im back! Our school got this cool new website! You can now watch all our morning announcements and videos on your smart phone and tablet! Today we started off by reviewing our ZONES of regulations and then we had a sharing circle about which ZONE we were in. Do you remember all four zones? What zone were you in most of the day? I was in the green zone. I was happy, calm, and ready to learn! Okay I might have went into the yellow zone for a little bit when I got a new password to the school website. I was so excited! We did our morning work. Our spelling word was "relaxation" and we wrote a story "How to Pick Flowers". In Language Arts with Mrs. Hill we did a read-a-loud of our Fudge book. We also worked on the Daily 5. Some people did listen to reading, some did word work with punctuation, and some read with Mrs. Hill. After recess we had math. In math today we discussed the 4 strategies we use for adding numbers. We can use dots, counting on, knowing our facts, or an algorithm for adding two digit numbers! That last one sounds hard! Do you know the steps to add two digit numbers? Step one : Be neat! What are the rest? After lunch we went to the computer lab. We talked about the difference between the address bar and a search bar. We worked with the windows start button, internet explorer, and our volume control. In PE we danced! I heard the chicken dance song! What is your favorite dance. We finished off the day with our agenda's and our book of gratitude. I gave the class a little extra time to get ready to put on their snowpants. Its getting cold! Dress warm! Get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow. We also have library tomorrow, so dont forget your book!

Zombie by Damien Another jam packed day full of fun in Grade Two!  Our spelling word today was "language" and our "First," was for "How to do a Handstand".  Remember your details need to be about your topic!  We doodled a snowman and went right into math.  In math we worked on playing an addition card game for Math with a Friend.  How well do you know your addition of numbers from 0 to 20?  We also worked on a math listening activity where we had to write down three numbers and place them in order least to greatest.  After recess we had language arts with Mrs. Hill.  She worked on a writing piece about friends.  After lunch we had guidance with Miss Mackenzie.  Did you win at finding friends bingo?  In PE with Mrs. Hache we did lots of dancing!  The fiddle music with fast feet at the end was my favorite.  We finished off the day by packing our bookbags with our agenda's and report cards.   We wrote in our book of gratitude.  What do you like about your friends?  I wont be in the classroom tomorrow, Miss Tucker will be in for me.  Also our book fair opens tomorrow!  Get lots of sleep, best behavior, and I will see you on Thursday.

Lego Fun by Jack What a fast Friday!  Our spelling word today was "bullying", our "First," was for a story called how to build a rocket, and we doodled a tree.  In language arts with Mrs. Hill we did Wordo (a sight word bingo), and a round of the daily five.  After indoor recess we did make something that does something.  We practiced being good speakers and listeners, built a jenga tower where two things happened (they happen everytime), we came up with team names, and we built a tower using spaghetti with an eraser at the top.  The largest tower was 45 cm tall!  Great job.  After lunch Miss MacFarlene came in and did some dancing with us, and then we drew an ogre.  We also did a puppy dog.  We talked about using different amounts of pressure with our crayons when we color for effect.  Today was game day in PE.  Mrs. Hache played zoo keeper, dead ant, and four corners.  We finished off the day with some coloring, we packed our agenda's with a parent teacher note (attached), and went home.  Report cards go home next week and Mrs. Hill and I will sit in together for parent teacher conferences since we are team teaching the math and language arts.  We will try our best to accomodate everyone.  Get lots of rest and have a great weekend!

Attack of the Leaves by Alexis I cant believe its Thursday already!  We had a great day today at Ian Baillie.  We started off our day with our regular routine.  Our spelling word was "information".  I was really pleased with how many students remembered the ending sound is "tion" not "shun" like it sounds.  We did a "First," for a story "How to make a craft angel".  We doodled a bunny.  We did a quick math review and put some finishing touches on our Remembrance Day posters.  After recess we had language arts with Mrs. Hill.  We worked on our daily five routine and did some reading groups with Mrs. Hill.  After lunch we went to the library.  Remember there is no library next week due to the book fair.  In PE with Mrs. Hache we played floor hockey.  After PE we stayed in the gym for a game because we had more happy faces than sad faces!  Did you like the samuri game?  Get lots of sleep tonight and I will see you bright and early in the morning!

RECESS by Emma Its good to be back!  Thank you SO much to Miss Hache who was in for me on Thursday and Friday last week.  It sounds like she had lots of fun in our class.  We started off our day with our normal routine.  We set up our page, took out our agenda's, and were ready to work!  Our spelling word today was "identical" and our "First, " was for a pretend story called "How to Treat a Pimple".  We also doodled a castle.  Instead of going to language arts today we went to the gym for our school wide "Remembrance Day" rehearsal.  After an indoor recess the grade 1 and 2 classes went to the gym for a presentation on Sistema.  There is a note on the inside of the students agenda today explaining more about this wonderful program opportunity.  After lunch we went to the computer room.  Everyone is doing a great job logging on to their computer with their own ID.  In PE today with Mrs. Hache we played floor hockey.  We finished off our day with a desk change, desk clean, packed notes in the agenda, signed the agenda's, wrote in our book of gratitude, got ready and had last week's draw!  It was a very busy day!   Tomorrow we have our Remembrance Day Ceremony in the gym at 10:00.  Everyone is welcome to attend this event.  Get lots of sleep tonight and I will see you tomorrow!

Let Me Take a Selfie by Phoenix Today was a chilly, but beautiful day at Ian Baillie!  We started out practicing to be good listeners and speakers with a sharing circle.  What is something you have to do to be a good listener?  What was the favorite TV show of the person you asked?  Our spelling word today was "everything" and the pretend story we made was for a story called "How to boil an egg".  We doodled a few different kinds of houses.  We practiced our song for Remembrance Day with the other class.  In language arts Mrs. Hill did a lesson on word work.  She gave us some letters and we tried to make up as many words as we could.  I bet some of those letters were vowels!  How do I know?  After recess we had math.  We talked about greater than, less than, and equal too.  Well, actually we spent alot of time talking about crocodiles, but it was almost the same thing!   Can you finish the math sentence "12 __ 7"?  Today was a hot lunch day!  I cant thank the volunteers who run that program enough!  Its so awesome!  Pop in some Wednesday at lunch and help out if you are available.  After lunch we had a very challenging art class!  We tried a small oragami ghost.  Oragami is always frustrating the first time.  We will have lots of chances to practice this year.  In PE we did some hockey stick handling skills.  We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and packing our agenda with the new book order and a memo.  Get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!
