It was an exciting day at Ian Baillie today! Our school got 3 new students, did you meet them? Our day started off with our regular routine. The spelling word was "overgrew", our writing included and introduction and a "First," (so two paragraphs), for yesterdays story "How to Make a Pie". What does "indent" mean? Why do we indent? We also doodled a shark.

In math we started off with a listening quiz with six questions deciding on which unit to use. We reviewed what an estimate is, and did math with a friend to practice our addition facts from 0-20. We practiced estimating and measuring objects in the classroom. Were your estimates close to the actual measurements?

After recess we had language arts with Mrs. Hill. We did a read aloud and our daily 5 activities. Which activities did you choose? Read to self, buddy read, word work, write to self, or listen to reading? Some students also worked with Mrs. Hill for a guided reading.

After lunch we had music. We are working on a song for the music festival in April. "The Cat Came Back", should be a hit! I'll keep you posted on dates and times!

In PE with Mrs. Hache I saw lots of red faces and heard I have some great runners! I was even challenged to an end of the year race! Thats silly, everyone knows Im the fastest runner in all grade two!

We finished off the day with a video on dental health . We talked about the importance of brushing and how to brush. We packed up our agenda's with some memo's and got ready for home.

If School is cancelled tomorrow that means that Thursday will be the 99th day of school and that Friday will be the 100th Day of school! Remember to dress up the way you will look when you are 100! Get lots of sleep, dress warm, and I will see you in the morning!

What a beautiful day at Ian Baillie! We started off with our regular routine. Our spelling word was "overflew", our "First, " was for "How to make a pie, and we doodled a shark. We did flouride and went to Mrs. Hills Class for Language Arts.

In Language Arts today we did a read aloud and a writers workshop! What did you write about today? Did you add a detail sentence to go with your topic sentence?

After recess we had math. In math we had a listening quiz on choosing units for measurement. Which unit would you use if you were measuring the height of your desk? The height of the school? The distance to Moncton? Next we did math with a friend and worked on addition facts 0-20. We talked about using string for measuring the distance around, and talked about using our feet to estimate.

After lunch we had PE with Mrs. Hache. I saw everyone wearing weird vests with ribbons on the vests! Were you having a fashion show? What game were you playing?

Then we had Art with Mrs. Hill. We walked into the room and it was all set up with big sheets of white paper on the tables! That usually means paint! How did you manage to paint such straight lines?

It is dental health month, so we looked at a few ways to take care of our teeth. We did our book of gratitude, signed our agenda's, and got ready for home.

Dont forget that THE 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL is coming up this week and we will be dressing up! Provided there is no cancelations due to weather, the 100th day will be Thursday (if there is a snowday on Wednesday then its becomes Friday). I cant wait to see what you will wear when you are 100! Dress warm, get lots of sleep, and I will see you bright and early tomorrow!

After lunch we changed our books in the library and did a read aloud of a book about China.

In PE today Mrs. Hache was back and she had some crazy throw and catch devices.  Which one was your favorite?

After PE we watched a quick video about a girl named Carly.  Carly had a hard time finding a place to stay!

A memo went home today from the new principal, Chloe!  Tomorrow we will be allowed to chew gum in school, wear your PJ's, and there will be a manditory show and tell, with time to play with Show n' Tell objects!  It might be a crazy day!

For the 100th Day of school this year students in Grade 2 are asked to dress up the way they think they will look when they are 100 years old!  Will you have a cane, will you still have your hair, will you still wear an angry birds t-shirt?  Dress up, have fun, and we'll see you in 90+ years!

It was a warm and wet day today at Ian Baillie.  We started off the day with our regular routine.  Our spelling word was "outdrew" and our "First," was for a pretend story "How to make cookies".  We doodled a dolphin and scored our own papers before we put them in our books.

Next we went to language arts with Mrs. Hill.  We worked on word endings like "eat" and "eet".  What ending would you used for the body part you put in your socks?  We also did read to self, guided reading, and we looked at a 3 minute video on greetings in Arabic.  Why Arabic?  We stopped a bit early for a bathroom and snack break before skating.

I stayed behind from skating today to help move books, cabinets, and funiture to get a classroom ready for the new Serian students who will be arriving tomorrow.  I was told skating was uneventful, which is a good report to me!

After lunch we went to the computer.  We worked in Paint.  We made a picture called "Inside looking Out".  We saved it to our hard drive and went to gym.

In PE the gym teacher was much better looking than usual (it was me and not Mrs. Hache).  We warmed up, worked on using the backboard in basketball, and we played a tag game with the noodles.

We finished off the day watching an animated short that tells the story of Saoussan, a young girl struggling to adjust to life in Canada after being uprooted from her wartorn homeland.  It was called From Far Away.  Several of our Serian students will arrive tomorrow and I know everyone is excited to welcome them.

We have Library tomorrow afternoon, so please bring in your books.  Chloe still has time to give me the Principal of the Day Prize for Friday, so hopefully she comes to her senses and does that!  Otherwise get lots of sleep, dress warm, stay dry, and I will see you tomorrow.

What a busy day at Ian Baillie School!  We started out the day with our regular routine, our spelling word was "mildew" and our "First," was for "How to find a Valentine".  We did a doodle of a fox for the last time.

Just before we could clean up and put our work away we all went to a surprise assembly!  To end the Staff Appreciation Week, the students read letters to each of the staff and presented them with a rose (I got protien bars instead)!  We were all very impressed with how well all of the students did.

When we came back up from the assembly we cleaned up and were called to the kitchen for a Valentines Day Treat-cess.  Each student got to pick from trays of fruit and fruit dip.

After recess we had Language Arts with Mrs. Hill.  We did some read to self, and read aloud work.  We wrote about someone that we loved and we worked on a puzzle with the Chinese Zodiac.

At lunch the grade two's got the sliding hill because we missed our turn during the snow day this week.  After lunch we handed out valentines and treats.  Thank you so much for all the work everyone put into making and signing valentines for their classmates (and their teacher).

In PE with Mrs. Hache we had a game day.  We played zoo keeper and other student choice games.  Did you get to pick a game today?

We finished off the day going through the grade 3 classroom to look at the Heritage Fair projects.  The grade 3 students did a wonderful job!  Then we came back to the classroom and packed our agenda's.  Two memo's went home today.  Monday is Flag Day, so wear Red and White.  The other memo was about French Immersion.  We had our weekly draw before we went home and Jack won!  I hope you enjoy your prize this weekend.

Have a great weekend, get lots of rest, stay warm, and I will see on Monday morning for more fun and learning!

How about your height?

After an indoor lunch we had computer! I asked my class to help Mrs. Hill's class log onto the computers using their individual accounts for the first time! After computer we had Art with Mrs. Hill.

In Art we made Red Chinese Lanterns. Why did you make lanterns this week? Whats special about this week in China?

We finished off the day in PE with Mrs. Hache playing basketball. She is making you dribble now! Is it faster to move the ball by dribbling or passing?

There was a memo that went home today it is in the front of the agenda. Interim reports go home tomorrow. Just a reminder to return the valentines day tickets this week as we will be having the draw this Friday! I've sold some tickets too! I hope I win principal of the day! Things will be different around here when I get to make up 3 rules for the day!

Have a great night, get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!

It was a busy day today in Grade 2!  We started off the day with our spelling word "cashew".  Do you notice anything special about the ending of our spelling words lately?  Our "First," was for a story called "How to pop up on a surfboard".   We scored our sheets and did a doodle of a puppy.

In Math we reviewed even and odd numbers.  Do you remember how to tell if any number is even or odd?  We talked about the months of the year and measuring time.  What are some other ways we can measure time?  We also did some MBM (math by myself) sheets with single digit addition.

After recess we had language arts with Mrs. Hill. We did a read aloud, read to self, guided reading, and made words with the word groundhog.

After lunch we went to the library and changed out our books.  I read a short story about a boy who couldn't tie his shoes.  We came upstairs and put our books away and went to gym.

In PE today we had Mrs. Gallant teach us some basketball skills and play a game with us!

We ended our day talking about science and the upcoming STEM Fair projects.  Stay tuned for more information on the IBP STEM Fair.  Get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!
