Today was a busy day at Ian Baillie. We started off the day with our regular routine. Our spelling word was "decoration" and our story was "How to make a decoration". We doodled a manatee. Then we went to Mrs. Hill's class to practice our songs. In Language Arts we read a Christmas book and worked on our Alphabet books. After recess we had math. In math we worked on math sentences and using an "equal" and "not equal" signs. What would you put on the blank for 4+3 ___ 5+2 ? We also worked on some Word Problems. After lunch we had Guidance with Ms. MacKenzie. She read us a story book and gave us each two tickets. What were your tickets for? In PE, Mrs. Hache was out, but we did lots of running and lots of sweating! We finished off the day looking at some maps and working on our directions for North, East, South, and West. I also said we have homework! On Friday afternoon we will be Skyping with a Grade 3 Class from Colorado, checkout their website to help with your homework. Your homework is to think of a question you may want ask a student who lives in Colorado! We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and signed our agenda's. Dress warm and get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning!

We started off today with a draw from last week. I hope you did your daily math sheet and got it in the draw! The winner today was Tyler! He can choose his prize when he comes back. We did our regular routine. The spelling word was "squirrel". What did I say was special about the letter "q"? We did a story start for "How to Put up a Christmas Tree" and we doodled a tiger. Before we started language arts we practiced our Christmas Songs with the other class. Everything is coming together nicely! In Language Arts with Mrs. Hill we did a read aloud with our Fudge book, and we started our own Christmas alphabet books. What did you say the letter "Aa" was for? After recess we had math. We did a listening test, some math word problems, and then looked at the equal sign. Equal means "the same as", so is it true or false if I said 4+3=6+1?
After lunch we went to the computer lab and looked at a coding activitity for "The Hour of Code". Check out the link in the post below. In PE, Mrs. Walsh had the gym set up like a maze! I dont know what you did but it sure looked fun! We finished off the day looking at the directions for North, East, South, and West. How will I ever remember those. We also looked at the seven continents. Can you remember the names of any of them? We did our book of gratitude, signed our agenda's, had one more draw (Emma won a book) and we went home. Have a great day, get lots of sleep, rest up your singing voices, and I will see you in the morning!

We started off today with our regular routine. Our spelling word was "parachute" and our story was for "How to jump out of a plane". We doodled a pig. Then we practiced our songs for the Christmas Concert, Its Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas and Please Christmas Dont be Late. Yes we did change the second song to suit the play that will accompany the concert. We finished off the morning with some language arts with Mrs. Hill. After recess we had math. We did math with a friend, and worked on our math stories. We also tried to do talk on Skype, but I ran into some technical difficulties. I think I have all the bugs worked out and we will try again next week! After lunch we worked on a Santa Head for art class. In PE Mrs. Hache was out today, but it was game Friday! What game did you choose? We came back to the class and finished up our Santa's for the wall. We all signed happy faces in our own agenda's! We played some classroom games and went home. Have a great and safe weekend! See you on Monday

What a busy day at Ian Baillie Primary. We started off the day with the choir being called to the gym for a practice. With half of the grade two practicing for choir, we combien the remaining grade two students and practiced our songs for the Concert which has now been moved to Monday Dec 14th.
When the choir members returned we went over our songs a final time and did a quick drawing of Olaf from Frozen. We came back to the classroom and hit the reset button and we completed our regular morning routine. Our spelling word was "Christmas", our "First," with two detail sentences was for a story "How to Sing a Song". We doodled a cow, and got ready for recess. After recess we stayed in the classroom. We did a language arts round of Read to self. We checked in and did another 3 minute round with our jackets and chairs upsidedown. Were you comfortable? Will you do your read to self like that again? Next we a did a round of Math with a friend. We took turns being a judge and telling math stories to our partners.
We did a check in, and then took an early break because today was the Christmas Dinner in the gym. The Culinary Class from JMH came down, prepared the meal, and served it. It was amazing. After lunch we came back to the classroom. We took a quick look at the school twitter account @IBP_School and answered some question for a class in Colorado about Canada, then we checked out the ir class webpage. They look like they do lots of cool stuff in their class! The gym was full of tables and chairs, so instead of PE we made Christmas Art with Mrs. Hache (or her supply teacher), until we were called to the gym to meet a VERY special guest! We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and getting our agenda's signed. I also handed out a few of the marshmallow challenge kits. Its not too late to bring in your form and get a kit to work on for the weekend! Get lots of sleep, dress warm, and I will see you in the morning!
