Good afternoon everyone!  Today was a little bit different as Miss Gallant was the teacher for the whole day.  We finished our chapter book, Junie B. Jones Has a Monster under Her Bed.  It was really funny. How did she get rid of the monster?  Also today we continued our lesson on increasing patterns. Tonight is meet the teacher for all parents that can come.  Tomorrow is show and tell.  If you can not find your sheet, here is the link to print another one.  http://ianbaillie.nbed.nb.ca/,sites/ianbaillied7.nbed.nb.ca/files/feeds/... Remember NO SHEET NO SHOW.

Hello everyone! Today in our homework folder you will see many memo's to look at. Also there is a green homework duo tang in your child's folder.  One assignment is to be completed each night with your child.  It should not take any more than 10 minutes to complete.  This goes along with the 10 minutes of reading each night for a total of 20 minutes of homework. This homework folder must be returned each day so we can do a quick check to see how everyone is doing.  We learned about increasing patterns, do you remember what those are?   See if you can figure out the rule of this increasing pattern and what number comes next.  (2,4,6,8,10,?,?,?).  Meet the Teacher is tomorrow at 6:30 and we also have hot lunch.  See you tomorrowB&G's!

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a great week end.  We worked on read to self and also stated to introduce write to self. We are loving our chapter book Junie B. Jones has a Monster Under Her Bed, especially her pet elephant Phillip Johnny Bob!  Our math unit on patterns is going well. How many times the core have to appear in order to be a pattern? A gentle reminder to send in students fees. Have a good night boys and girls!!

Today in our agenda you will see, a book for my book box?  This is for our Daily 5 Read to Self.  If your child has a book at home that they would like to bring in for their book box they may do so. However it is not necessary.  In Math class today we continued our lesson on patterns and the core of a pattern.  Ask your child if a pattern can have ONLY 1 item in the core (think about the floor tile in our classroom).  We also worked on our stamina today during our read to self.  The hardest part was not reading but to quickly and quietly find a spot to read. We will continue to do this tomorrow.  We learned another way to read a book is to re-tell the story.  Do you know the other 2 ways we can read a book?  Have a great night boys and girls and we will see you tomorrow!!

Today was our second day at school.  There are still lots of routines that we need to learn but we are getting there!  In our math lesson today we learned about patterns (things that go togetherfollowing a rule) and their term core (part of the pattern that repeats). See if you child can show you a pattern and its core using household item like pocket change! We also are building our reading stamina during read to self which is part of the Daily 5 literacy block. We are now on chapter three of our Junie B Jones book, I wonder if someone will tell her that there really is no such thing as monsters!

Today was the very first day of school and everyone was excited to be back at Ian Baillie but even more excited to find out that they were in Mr. McCallum's class!! Also we are very fortunate to have an intern from Crandall University, Miss Kari Gallant who will be with Mr. McCallum until December. Everyday we will try our best to post on this web site our homelink and the ongoings of class that you can ask you child about. This is a very informal way to keep us connected so please excuse any grammar or spelling errors. Check your child's bookbag for agenda and homework folder for notes and permission slips that need to be returned to the school. We started our first chapter book today, so you can ask your child why Junie B Jones may be afraid to sleep tonight!!

In our book (The Secrets of Droon : The Race to Doobesh) the kids made it through the gate, do you know how they were able to pass through the gate?  On math we worked on adding with our hundreds chart, and we continued with our comprehension stories in language arts.  Mr. Lange worked with the kids on the importance of Earth Day.  Make sure to do your reading and I will see you in the morning!

Show and tell took up most of our morning.  The students are getting better at talking about their item when I ask them.  For many student I just have to say "tell me a bit about what you brought".  It went very well.  We did writing with Miss Reid after recess, and had a special guest teacher who helped out Mr. Lange today.  For gym we did some skipping outside on the track.   Remember to bring your Flat Stanley's we will be mailing them off tomorrow!  See you then.

Today was a busy day for international travel.  Stephen came to our class from Honduras, Paige returned from Mexico, Kelly talked about her upcoming Florida trip, and Josh talked about his upcoming Cuba trip.  Flat Stanley doesn't travel as much this class!   The Flat Stanley projects are starting to come in and they look great!  In art today we made our own Flat Stanley's to travel to Calgary.  In math we are still adding two digit numbers and worked with our hundred's chart.  Remember to wear pink tomorrow and we will see you in the morning.

Our Monday was a little different from our normal Monday's because the Kindergarten stayed home and next years students came for the Teddy Bear Picnic.  That meant no Music, Regular Gym, or Switching with Mrs. MacIssac.  But it did give us some extra time for Math.  We have been working on Addition with 2 digit numbers!  Do you remember the 3 steps we use?  We also talked a bit about Honduras!  Thats because starting tomorrow we will have a new student from there named Stephen!  I know everyone will welcome him!

Report Cards went home today and I forgot to put it on the agenda.  This is a short week this week.  We go to the TNB play on Thursday and there is no school on Friday for Parent teacher Conferences.  I will try to post the schedule of meeting on this site as well.  We have already started our new unit in math for addition and subtraction up to 100!  There will be a spelling test on Thursday, but it is just a review of words we have already done so it isn't as bad as it looks.  Hope your being nice to your Flat Stanley's!   See you tomorrow.

Today zipped by.  We started the day doing up a morning letter and reading a few more days in the Diary of a Wimpy kid.  Many of the students have gone to see the movie and have given it good reviews.  In math today we took some time to learn about chess.  We learned about how pawns move and work.  We also touched on units in measuring and units in mass, which is where we will pick up tomorrow.  Get lots of sleep and we will see you tomorrow.
