This week is a short week with no school on Thursday or Friday (CI Days), and Monday is Thanksgiving.  Five day weekend for students WOO HOO!  We sent home spelling words this week but the spelling test will be next Friday.  With that much time to practice I know everyone will get 100% on this quiz.  Scholastic orders are due back on Oct 16th.  (The order forms are posted under documents).  See you tomorrow.

High scores on the spelling tests all around! Good job gang, the words are getting harder so I can really tell now that the students are studying.

We are very excited to start a new chapter book.  "The Talented Clementine" looks like a winner.  Clementine seems to have a very different view of school.  She is a bit worried about the upcoming "Talent Palooza, Night of the Stars!", which she seems to think has her friend Margaret's name attached to it some how.  Our class also made an interesting discovery about the principal in the book, which is odd for books.  What does Principal Rice have in common with Ian Baillie's principal?

Wow the week is going by quick!  The grade 2's and 3's had soccer tonight after school so Im a bit late getting todays work posted.  For the soccer players in class, remember that we will be playing a game after school on Tuesday at 3:00 here at Ian Baillie.  I hope the weather is nice.  Today at school we had LIVE morning announcements with Mrs. McCarthy!  What did your child think of them?  We have an assembly tomorrow afternoon and the morning might be a bit confusing because I moved all the chairs... again!

Tomorrow is picture day!  There is soccer after school on Thursday for those still interested in joining.  Hard to believe that September is over.  Have a great night and see you tomorrow.

A rainy day, but we got lots of work done today.  We have really been working hard on whispering in class if we need to talk to a friend, and especially when it comes time to work on our responsible choices.  I'm really happy with the progress we've been showing.  We finished our first chapter book today.  (I wonder why Sly was more proud of hitting a single than a homerun?)  A new book and a new day tomorrow!

Our weekly spelling test went very well today!  It is obvious that many of the students are practicing a little bit each night!  After our spelling test today we had another 'spelling test' which is part of our AIMS testing.  This was for fall observation purposes only, but it seemed to rattle a few students because they were worried that they were having a test that they hadn't studied for, which was not the case.  We also had a great turn out for the Terry Fox Walk! Have a great weekend!

With only two chapters left in our book we still have lots of questions to answer.  Will Sly win back his friends, will we find out Charlie Comets secret, and can Sly still play up to coach Corbin's expectations?  Ask your child what they think will unfold in the coming few pages!

We worked hard and got all of our reading tests done today.  Remember tomorrow we have a spelling test for the week 2 words.  We also have the Terry Fox Walk in the afternoon.  Parents are welcome to participate.  We will be walking around the school track starting at 12:20.

A good day today, hard workers and great weather.  Not much out of the ordinary, other than Mr. Lange tap dancing on the students desks of course.  Terry Fox walk is coming up on Friday and we are looking forward to that.  Get lots of rest and we'll see you all tomorrow!

I was out of the class for the morning doing some training on "Fast For Word", a computer program which our class will be using later in the year.  While I was gone today Mr. Lynch was our guest Teacher.  I was very pleased (although not surprised) that he reported the class was very well behaved and worked hard.  After lunch we had Art Class.  In Art we tried making a stain glass replica for the windows in the class room, check back soon for pictures of our creations.                             (NOTE: Homework is due on Friday's, sorry for any confusion)

Another busy day today!  We started to learn about choosing "Good Fit" books, and picked out some new books for our book boxes.  In gym we reviewed some dances from last year... we are a funky bunch!  We were also a louder than usual bunch, but I know we are going to work hard tomorrow to whisper.  I know the class will work hard and make me proud for our Guest Teacher Mrs. Moran, as I will be at training @ District Office until noon.  Also the week 2 spelling list went home today.
