We are trying to pack lots in with the torch coming on Friday and the Christmas Concert right around the corner!   Our class has some local celebrities this week with the morning announcements, look out Hollywood!  We met a new character today nicknamed "The Desert Rat" in our Geronimo Stilton chapter book.  We practiced our songs for the Christmas concert and we went to the rink to skate!  We also had our Popsicle party for the winning the penny award last month!  We rock!  We started to work on math sentences that are equal and unequal.  And at the end of the day I had a lot of kids who were disappointed to learn that my desk was covered with wrapped soaps and not candies, but they took the soaps anyway... I'm as puzzled as anyone!  Remember to bring in your answers for math Bonus #5 and there will be a spelling test first thing in the morning.  See you then.

In art today we made shakers for the olympic torch and envelopes for our Christmas countdown calendar.  In math we worked on using ten frames to make four different math sentences.  During language arts we worked on writing by our self in different mediums (letters, small books, journals)etc.  When we read our chapter book today we found out why Bugsy has the nickname little tornado!  Wow!  I have a few answers in for our math bonus 005. Both our spelling test and the draw will take place first thing on THURSDAY morning, because our day on Friday will be so busy.  See you tomorrow!

We are in Olympic Torch mode this week!  We started today with a new chapter book in the Geronimo Stilton Series.  I love that crazy mouse!  We also took a peak at our new math question for the week, you might want to dig out your old monopoly money to help with this one.  In PE we practiced our dance for the olympic torch ceremony.  Remember we are skating on Wednesday, there is a note on the main page calendar.  I will keep this short because I dont want to cut into your Mango screen time.  See you tomorrow!

Jack and Annie found out the secret of happiness, saved merlin, and enjoyed their walk home through nature.  Another chapter book done and we will try a new series starting on Monday.  We had a spelling test first thing this morning followed by show and tell.  Show and tell was really good.  I think the sheets helped because the students all new lots about their items and all seemed very prepared!  We also did not do a morning letter today because we made a quick video to our partner class in Calgary instead.  We were a bit silly in places, but thats us!  As a past winner, Zach P drew the name of this weeks math prize winner!  Congratulations to Josh Cabel!  He had the correct answer of 18.  (Zach P drew the name there was no fix!)  Check back tomorrow for next weeks math problem.  We also played some co-operative games in gym class that made us work in groups.  Why do you think it was easier to play the games with small groups and harder with large groups?  Have a great day off and see you Monday!

I thought Jack and Annie were finished today when they ran into that samurai in the garden without Master Basho!  Do you remember how they escaped?  They think they may found the secret of happiness that will help Merlin, but Im not sure.  Only one chapter left to find out.  We had some very busy readers and writers today, I am very happy on how independent we are becoming.  In gym today we had Miss Barry as a guest and she showed us some cool partner balances.  We keep working on adding and subtracting in math.  Can you think of a different word that means the same as add or subtract?

Jack and Annie seemed to have saved the town of Edo from the fire, but they were to late to help Master Basho.  Do you remember why Basho said that fire was "the flowers of Edo"?  We did some impressive work in writing, I was so pleased with our read to a buddy today as well.  In math we tried some game stations instead of a work sheet and we found out a huge secret!  Did you know if you read an addition sentence backwards, it works like a subtraction sentence!  I KNOW!!!!  You have to try it.  We also did some painting in art today of an olympic scene.  Some just need a bit of touch up.  Hot lunch tomorrow!  See you in the morning.

I missed the audio for the morning letter again!  Strike two for me. What a busy day!  Jack and Annie finally got to use the wand!  Right now they are riding on the back of dragon and I cant wait to see what happens next.  We learned about the things we will do to start word work in Language Arts!  We did some gymnastics in gym.  In math we took a look at our new video question, and worked on our Math Word Wall.  I also sent home a sheet for show n' tell today.  Show n' Tell will be on Thursday and it is OPTIONAL.  The reason I sent the sheet home is simple, I have seen Show n' Tell where it is thoughtful, prepared, and interesting...but I have seen it where it is a chance to bring toys to school.  I know which one I want! Remember NO SHEET = NO SHOW.  We also got a sneak peak at one of the songs we will be singing for the Christmas show!  Its coming quick!  Its a short week with no school Friday. See you tomorrow.

We had Miss Galllant as guest today, and the class made me proud, as always.  Jack and Annie might finally be in a position to use the wand!  Its been so long I think I forget the 3 rules to using it though.   Do you remember?  Congratulations to Annabelle who won the draw for the math prize!  The next video is posted and our draw will be on Thursday since there is no school next Friday.  Hope everyone has a great weekend! and see you on Monday.

So Yeah.. I forgot to record the morning letter today.  Ooops!   Jack and Annie narrowly escaped the samuri thanks to Basho and Annies great poem.  I think the students had heard Annies poem before.  See if they can recite it.  Mrs. McCarthy put out job applications for a new Ian Baillie Morning News Anchor.  Applications need to be in tomorrow!  We did great with the senteo's in math, and worked on expressing our math sentences properly.  We do have a spelling test tomorrow.  Good luck and see you in the morning.

Only 11 students today!  That vaccination needle must have really hurt.  We worked hard none the less.  We made torches and olympic flags for art today.  We had an awesome remembrance day assembly.  Jack and Annie ran into some real trouble at the end of the chapter.  Im going right home to practice using my chopsticks so I never run into the same problem!  Tomorrow is a holiday so I will see you all on Thursday!

A very brave bunch today getting our needles, I was impressed.  We watched the torch travel another day today and we continue to get excited.  We watched our new weekly math problem, its a head scratcher!  We have our Remembrance day assembly tomorrow after recess.  In our chapter book today Jack and Annie went for a ride in a fishing boat with Basho to the market.  Why didn't they take the boat all the way to Basho's home?  In math we practiced writing two different math sentence to describe one picture using addition and subtraction.  Have a great night and see you tomorrow!

Wow was this class ever good at using the SENTEO's in math today.   The third time is a charm I guess.  We will definitely try to incorporate them every day if possible.  Congratulations to Zachary Perron who won the draw for the weekly math prize!  I'll try to post next weeks video before the weekend ends.  We started tracking the Olympic torch today and we are starting to realize how big a deal this is going to be!  In our book today Jack and Annie were almost attacked by three samurai warriors!  Do you know how they got away?  Have a great long weekend everyone and I will see you on Monday!

We finished up some of the details on our soldiers today with some extra art time.  We used the SENTEO's in math again.  We are getting better with them.  We just need to learn to not shout out the answers!  What does your child like most about the SENTEO's?  Reese's sister was a guest in our room today.  She was very nice and helped us with our work and read us a story.  We used the scooters in gym today and played Ballet Tag with them.   In our book Dragon of the Red Dawn we tried to use the wand but couldn't because of the 3 rules of the wand.  Jack and Annie will have to find passports another way.  Since we worked so hard today we finished off the day today with a game of quiet ball.  Spelling test tomorrow and parent teacher interviews start as well.
