Show and tell took front stage today.  After our Morning Message we started with our presenters.  Almost everyone brought something to show today!   Mrs. Gorges was very impressed today when the class had writing with Mrs. MacIsaac!  Every person in the class worked hard and did their best.  I hope this is a sign of how 2010 is going to go.  In PE we did one more day working on our 4 counts in dance and making up our own creative moves.  Mr. Somers went over water and its forms in the environment.  Do you know what 3 forms water takes?  Don't forget that Monday we start Fast ForWord.  Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday for our first full week of 2010.

Well we hit our grove a little better on our second day back, sleep patterns are returning to normal and we all seemed to be a bit more in school mode.  A perfect time to have Show and Tell!  Remember NO Sheet NO Show, (look under documents if you lost your sheet).  We finished our Ready Freddy book today!  Do remember what happened to Max in the race?  In writing today some wrote Mrs. McCarthy a letter and asked her if we could have a winter olympics at Ian Baillie just like in the book.  I think she really liked the idea so that may be in the works for the near future.  Just goes to show that letters do have power!  In math we reviewed numbers that pair to add to 10, and learned a few games.  In PE we made up our dances.  Crank up some tunes at home and learn some new moves!  See you all tomorrow!

Our first day back of 2010.

We had lots of cool show and tells today!  One student brought a dog, one brought their sister, and lots brought cool stuff!  Great job everyone.  We read another chapter in our new chapter book Ready Freddy, Ready Set Snow.  Freddy made a bet that his friend Robbie thinks was a mistake.  What do you think?  The Christmas dinner was fabulous and we all got a candy cane from Santa!  What a great day.  Remember we are going to the movies tomorrow, so get lots of rest and I will see you in the morning.

My apologies for totally forgetting to even post yesterday.  It was not an intentional part of the homework free 2009.  Today we made stars for our Christmas tree in art.  We worked on using a number line for addition and subtraction in math.  In Language Arts we worked on things we can do to be more independent, like if the writing center is out of lined paper, What should you do to show you can be independent?  In our writing conferences we are still working on using talking or quotation marks.  Tomorrow we have our Christmas dinner, Thursday is hot lunch, Friday we have an assembly first thing, and the Choir will be gone on Friday as well.  This week is going to go quick!  Enjoy 2009 while you can I will see you tomorrow.

A regular day today with no rehearsals, or assembly's, or bus trips.  It went very well and we settled back into our routine nicely.  A show of hands at the first of the day revealed most students wore their PJ's inside out to bed Wednesday night, but I guess we already knew that.  We worked on using some different setting in our stories today in Language Arts.   A few stories look like they may have some green screen potential.  In PE we played about 5 different games that the students chose.  We cleaned our desks in the afternoon (long overdue), and we spent some time in the computer lab as well.  Have a great weekend and I will see you for one more week on Monday.

Today was our big concert day, but before we even left the school we started with some GREAT news!  Shannon in our class won the Art contest for K-3 in District 16!  That is SO amazing.  What a great job at the concert today everyone, you all worked hard and it showed.  Tomorrow is a big day for our choir as they will be going to sing for the seniors, if there is not a storm day.  Half the class wants there to be school because of the choir trip and the other half just wants a snow day.  I told them that we can decide like we always do with majority rules.  If they want school to be cancelled they will wear their pajama's inside out to bed.  If they want school to be open and to go on the trip wear them the regular way to bed.  Listen to the radio tomorrow morning to find out how most of the students in this class wore their PJ's to bed!  See you...... (soon?).

Tomorrow is our Christmas Concert at JMH!  Get to bed early because we don't our big voices turning into yawns, that looks bad.  Hot lunch tomorrow as well.  The day went by quick today.  We went right up to JMH for a final rehearsal, and we got back in time to work on our stamina and independence reading and writing.  Santa must be on his way because all the boys and girls have been on their best behavior.  We finished off the day making some wreaths in Art.  GET LOTS OF SLEEP and don't forget your SMILES!!! See you tomorrow!

So this morning we spent our morning up at the high school getting set up for our Christmas concert.  I was very proud of our class.  We did have a lot of down time today and our class worked independently and keep busy and out of trouble!  We had a few minutes left over before lunch so as a little reward we had a game of quiet ball on our desks.  Zach R was the winner today!  We have a quick rehearsal up at the high school tomorrow and the final performance on Wednesday.  Congratulations to Reese who won the Math Bonus last week.  Get lots of rest and we will see you tomorrow.  Bring your singing voices and your smiles.

We found out what the pharaoh's secret treasure was and why you should never bring a skateboard on a plane in our chapter book today!  Ben was the first one to produce a story book, but Im sure there will be many to follow.  Check it out under our video section.  We did some shopping today and we started working on spelling some BIG words.  Do you remember how we did it?  In gym today we got out the cup stackers.  We have some fast hands in this room.  Keep practicing for the Christmas concert and I will see you all tomorrow.

Check out our Christmas Concert Preview under video's.  We are going to be so ready for this concert!  Also I didnt realize my recording of the Skype conversation with Santa had such poor audio quality, so I wrote the question over the video.  We worked on our stamina for write to self today, but our new mailboxes through us off a bit, Im sure we will be better tomorrow.  In math we reviewed addition, order, and the counting on strategy when writing math sentences.  Keep practing at home.  (May want to read the suggestions from yesterday) I ALMOST FORGOT!  We found out who the mummy was in our chapter book.  A new character called... "The Shadow"!  This series is so good.  Don't forget the shopping party is tomorrow as well.  Have a good night and see you tomorrow.

I thought we lost Geronimo today when someone pushed him into a sarcophagus and closed the lid!  Luckily he got out, but now he's going into a secret hatch in the basement!  What is that mouse thinking!  In Art today we made our mailboxes for our desks.  I see lots of teachable moments coming up with these.  In math today we worked on adding numbers in different orders and found that order doesn't matter!  (2+4=6 and 4+2=6)  When you set the table for dinner tonight, have your child add groups of items on the table (forks, knives, glasses).  Try adding them in a different order. Maybe your child can explain why order doesn't matter.  Spelling test on Friday, I posted the words if you lose them.  I also am posting Math Bonus #006.  Good luck!

Today we finished up writing to our Calgary friends, our letters will be posted this week.  We read more in our Geronimo Stilton book and found out what a Scarab is, do you remember?  In gym today we started learning about ringette, and we had our last music class before the christmas concert next week.  Josh Cabel drew the winner of the math question.  It was Shannon Bowes AGAIN!  Actually Shannon's name came out second because the first name didn't have an answer in it!  Get your answers in!  The new video will be posted tomorrow.  I also found a couple of links that shows off celebrities from our class on big websites!  Here's one below, check it out! http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-photos/allphotosgallery_82644ct-p2-...
