Working Hard by Thomas  Winter Carnival Week at Ian Baillie Primary School!!!  Let the crazyness begin!  Today was crazy hat day, and we had some dandy's today.   We started off the day with our Mystery box draws that I missed last week.  Jacob won a Tim Hortons Treat and Katlin chose a spot in our school spirit video!  After our draw we went over our routine and went to Language Arts with Miss Gallant.   Today in Langage Arts we worked on our persausive writing, trying to convince people to eat our favorite food.  Then we had recess.  After recess we had math.  We worked on making tally charts and converting the data into bar graphs.  We will be finished the Data Analysis unit this week.  We went outside on this beautiful day and came in to eat.  After lunch we filmed a quick scene for our school spirit video and went outside for PE and did some sliding.  When we came back in we practiced presenting our heritage fair projects.  At the end of the day we went home.  Get lots of sleep for tomorrow because it is crazy hair day and we are going to Nelson to cross country ski!  See you tomorrow!

Look under there! by LillianHi, This is Georgia, Mr. McCallum said I could write the end of day report today.  Mr. Cormier taught the other class math first.  First we had language arts and the supply teachers name was Mrs. McFearson.  I liked her.  She read us a book and then we did spelling tests.  Then we read to partners.  After we read to partners we wrote to self.  Then the bell rang for little recess and everybody got their snacks.  We had math with Mr. Cormier.  The bell rang to go outside and I had guitar club.  Then we ate lunch.  After we had lunch we went to JMH for gym.  At JMH we played hockey.  We came back Ryan gave both classes popcycles. Then we went down to the computer lab to work on our heritage fair projects.  I was all done so I played on the computer and made pictures in paint!  Right now Canada is winning 1-0 at olympic hockey!   Remember Monday we are going sliding and it is crazy hat day for $1.  TTFN

SNOW FUN by MikeyToday we started out the day by combiening all of the grade 3's in one room, except for a few who got some one on one help with their heritage fair project.  We did the normal morning routine for 3M.  We did a spelling word (hemisphere) and a Try to Solve.  Todays small problem was "I forgot my helmet".  What are some of the ways people tried to solve this problem.  We watched a quick biography on a boxer, do you remember his name?  He could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.  Just before we could start our math Mrs. Hache's grade 2 students came in and did a presentation on the titanic.   We got ready for recess early and went skating!   Thank you to all the parent volunteers who show up to help tie skates!  It makes life so much easier and skating so much more enjoyable!  When we got back we went straight outside and played on this beautiful day.  We had hot lunch (again with lots of wonderful volunteers).  After Lunch we got ready and went to JMH for PE and played floor hockey.  When we got back we went to the computer lab to put some finishing touches on our Heritage fair projects, and those who were finished got some free time to play on the internet!  We came back upstairs and stuffed our mouths with left over cinnamon hearts from yesterday, spit half of them in the garbage because they were too hot, and packed up for home!  Check the agendas tonight!  A note went home, our very  own Ryan Godfrey will be principal of the day tomorrow and he has some crazy rules!  I hope I dont fall asleep by lunch because teachers dont get coffee tomorrow!!!!!!!!  I better get to bed early!   See you tomorrow.

Valentines Minions by MitchellToday we had an unusual day in order that we can try and finish up all of our heritage fair projects this week!  All of the students in grade 3 came into my room so that Miss Gallant could pull out students in small groups to finish up their heritage fair projects!  I did the Language Arts and the Math!   In Language Arts we worked on our write to self with a drill called "if you think it, ink it!"  Most students filled up a full page with writing in just five minutes!  In Math we continued work out of the text book.   We worked on making a bar graph.  After lunch we went up to JMH for Tally Tuesday in PE.  When we came back we had Mr. Murphy (after I shot a little video of Ryan).   It is olympic time!  Do you remember what Mr. Murphy spoke to us about?  When Mr. Murphy finished up, there was only one thing that was on everyones mind.... VALENTINES!!!   We had a party, gave out valentines and ate candy!  It was very awesome!  See you tomorrow my little minions!

Have a Happy Valentines Day for your snow day!

We started off this morning by going to the library and exchanging our books.   The students scolded me because I forgot to put library in the agenda on Wednesday and some of them forgot their books at home.  I try harder to remember next Wednesday to put a library reminder in the agenda!    After we changed our books, I read part of a new book, and we packed up and headed for the computer lab to work on our heritage fair project.   Lots of the students are getting to a point they are ready to start putting all of their printed information on their project boards!  We took a quick recess break so that we could go back to the classroom to run the bake sale.   Everyone handled their own money and did a great job!  We continued to work on Heritage Fair until lunch.  We had an indoor recess and had lots of fun in the classroom.  The staff of Ian Baillie was very lucky to have lunch brought in by the home and school!  Thank you so much for lunch and for all you do!  After lunch we went up to JMH and worked on our curling skills!  When we got back we went to art with Miss Gallant where we made “Minions” using Kleenex boxes to hold our valentines for tomorrow or Tuesday if there is a snow storm.  YES, Tuesday!  Don’t forget there is no school on Monday for students!    We finished off our day with our book of Gratitude as we always do.  Have a great night!

Morning Routine by GavinA beautiful Monday and a great day in grade 3!  There are spelling words again this week (I found the book)!  Remember when you read at night you need to log your time!  We started off the day with some Olympic trivia on the morning announcements!  Do you remember any of the answers.  This morning we had won 5 medals!  I wonder if we won more since then?  I guess it depends on when you are reading this!  In language arts with Miss Gallant this morning we worked on finishing our good copies of our persausive writing essays, along with our literature circles.  Then we had a quick recess.  I was very pleased with how clean both classes kept the room!  In Math we worked on our Data Analysis of graphs.  We talked about surveys and we are ready to give our own!  At lunch we went outside!  What a great day!  After lunch we went up to JMH and practiced curling with Miss McFarlene.  Look out olympics here we come!  When we got back we worked on our poster boards and went to the computer room to work on our heritage fair projects.  How are you coming along with yours?  Remember this week is the bake sale to raise money for our end of year trip and our fundraising ticket for the home and school are due.  Get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning!

Good Listeners by Georgia We started today off with Guidance with Mr. Murphy!  Do you remember what he was talking about?  After Guidance we put on our coats and hopped on a bus for Saint Andrews!  We saw a cool musician!  Not a magician!  I guess a couple of letters make a difference!  He was awesome, and so were the students of Ian Baillie!  We saw some old friends, classmates, and teachers.  It was a great time!  We got back in time to get outside and play!  We ate and watched some of the CBC streaming of the opening ceremonies of the olympics!  It looked very cool.  After lunch we went to JMH for floor hockey Friday with Miss McFarlene.  When we got back we worked on our heritage fair projects with Miss Gallant.  The girls in the room snuck away and changed all the tables and layout of the classroom!  They were like ninjas!  After Social Studies we did our Mystery box Draw!  Do you remember if Mikey chose the prize in the mystery box?  Have a great day and I will see you on Monday!

Smiling Back by TriciaWe started off today by running downstairs to library and changing out our books.  Walking really, we always walk in the halls!   We came back to the classroom and did our opening activities.   We did one spelling word and handed it in for a draw ballot.  You got to put your name in the draw if you set up the page correctly and did the activity correctly.  The word did not have to be spelled correctly!  Do you remember what the word was?  (hint: its how a bishop moves)  Then we looked at bar graphs in Math.  Make sure you label your axes when doing them!  We had recess and after recess we went to language arts with Miss Gallant.  We went to the computer room and worked on our heritage fair projects.  Remember to save your work to the H drive so it wont matter which computer you use.  We had an indoor recess at the lunch break.  After recess we went to JMH for PE.  We finished up gymnastics with teddy bear stands, front rolls and back rolls.  After PE we had art with Miss Gallant.  She had some cut out letters which she shared with us!  What did you use yours for? We finished off the day with the book of gratitude and got ready for home!  Tomorrow remember to wear a sports jersey or Canadian clothing to support Canada in the opening of the olympics.  We will also be heading to Saint Andrews for a Magic show.  I wonder if he will make Mrs. Hache dissapear?  Get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning to find out!

All Aboard the Friend Ship by Thomas Today we started off the day with our opening activities.  We did a spelling word with 5 syllables.  Do you remember what it was?  (hint: You can do it without thinking)  Then we tried to solve a small problem.   What would you do if your friend was being mean?  We did our own doodles and then moved on to math!  In math we talked about line plots, tally charts, and axis.  Do you remember the two names of the axis in a chart?  We had recess.  After recess we had language arts.  We did a bit of work in the computer lab until the kindergarten came and frightened us off!  They are so scary!  Then we went back up to classroom and worked on our Heritage Fair Projects until it was time to go outside.  After Lunch we went to JMH for PE.  We worked on Teddy Bear stands and some of us even popped up into head stands!  After PE we had computer.  In computer we opened up paint for the first time and our email.  Then we were given some free time because we did our Winter walk outside!   It was a great walk and we even got to climb on some snow banks!  And just like that the day was over!
