Strange Animal by KaitlinA great Friday! We started off the day with a double math class. Everyone was able to get all of their boardwork and textbook work for the week caught up and checked! Some people even had time to play a game of chess as a responsible choice! After recess we had a double language arts class for the day. Check out Miss Gallants teacher page to see what we did! After lunch we went to JMH for PE. When we got back we went to health with Miss Gallant and talked about healthy eating and the canada food guide. After health we had science. Mr. Cormier came in to help out and we worked in groups to answer questions about magnets! Do magnets attract to all metals? Whats the difference between attract and repel? Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Class Selfie by GavinToday we started out with our solving a problem for zipper that got stuck. Do you remember some of the ways we tried to solve it? We read about how George ruined his lemonade business and doodled a koala bear. In math we talked about 3 digit subtraction and the importance of using a place value chart. In language arts we worked on persuasive writing and focused on using the class word wall. After lunch we went to JMH for gym and played some basketball skills games with Miss McFarlene. When we got back to IBP we went to the library and Mrs. Weeks helped us exchange our books. We finished off the day in Art learning about a famous painting. Do you remember what it was called, and what was special about the way it was painted? Tomorrow is Friday already! Get lots of sleep and I will see you bright and early!

2023 Athlete of the Year by Georgia The week is half done! The number of the day today was 76! Do you remember why? We started off our morning with our agenda's, setting up our page for LA, and finishing up our number of the day sheet. We did a new activity in the morning call "Solve this Problem" where we think of solutions to a "Small Problem". Todays small problem was, I cant find my shoe. How did you solve that problem? Did your answers sound like a story? We also read about a boy who was selling Gormet Lemonade! Gormet makes it sound fancy! We then went ot language arts with Miss Gallant. After LA we had an indoor recess. When recess was over we started on math right away. We went over our subtracting algorithm, did our boardwork, and worked out of the textbook. It was very cold again today at lunch so we stayed in and found quiet activities to do. Everyone was very excited for lunch to end so we could jump on the bus with Miss McFarlene and go to gym at JMH! We had a great time playing basketball! When we came back we had health with Miss Gallant. We went over some of the cool things we would do in 2014 and maybe making some resolutions. Did you make a resolution for this year? After health we went to the computer room. We will be having one more bake sale in February, so we learned how to make posters in Microsoft Word. I cant wait to post them when we are done! Paying Attention by TriciaOur first Day back for 2014! We were a little rusty in some of the routines, but it was a great day over all. We started the day with our new morning activities. We had a spelling word (subtraction) and we made a few small problems with a pencil. In math we reviewed adding and subtracting. Indoor recess was different because there was NO choir! Everyone stayed in the classrooms and played. After recess we had language arts with Miss Gallant. We went over our new spelling words, looked at the new homework sentences, reviewed our word wall, and did our first cursive writing sheet! It was a bit too cold to go outside at lunch so we stayed in to play. After lunch we went to JMH for our first gym class at the high shcool. What did you think of the gym? Who taught you? When we came back we had science with Mr. Cormier. We finished off the day with our book of gratitude and a draw sheet for the number of the day, 75. What does that mean, 75 is the number of the day? Thoughts of Under the Tree by ThomasWhen I came in the building this morning you could feel the energy! It was the last day of school before Christmas and it was PJ day! To say we were excited would be a huge understatement! Once OCanada started order was returned. We all went to Miss Gallants room to make Christmas themed bags with felt fronts. Some of us made snowmen, some elves, and some gingerbread men. They looked great. That took us all the way to recess. After recess we painted wooden reindeer! They turned out great! We had an indoor lunch because it was almost -20 on the playground with the windchill. After lunch we bundled up in our skipants and walked down to the united church for our end of month assembly. We handed out some well deserved awards and shared some milk and cookies! We walked back up and found all the Christmas bags we made in the morning with a little treat in them! The teachers also found lots of treats from the students. Thank you so much everyone for the wonderful gifts! After we opened our treats and had another quick snack, we cleaned up our desks and the classroom. Then it was time to go home! The day flew by! Everyone have a wonderful break, thank you again for the gifts, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and I will see everyone in 2014

Selfie #5 by LillianToday we started out the day working on the Secrets of Nimh. We used a Venn Diagram, which is made out of two circles. Do you remeber how we filled it out? We had an early recess because the Choir had to get a snack before they left for the Mount to perform. I heard they did an amazing job and we can be very proud! While the choir was gone the grade 2's and 3's that were left behind went to the Computer lab with Mrs. Hill and I to do work on the smartboard. We used a program called extreme collaboration. Do you remember how it worked? When the choir came back they had a small pizza party at lunch! What a great way to celebrate all their hard work. It was a big deal for these kids to give up so many recess's to sit and practice singing! Their hard work paid off! After lunch we had Mr. Trevors for PE and Mr. Murphy for guidance. Do you remember what we talked about? In computer we worked on making a Christmas thank you letter. It had to be copied from this teacher page, pasted in word, the font size changed and a christmas border added. We then saved it on our personal H drives and emailed them to the teacher to be printed. Remember tomorrow is PJ day and we are having our assembly at the church basement down the road at 12:30. It might be cold in PJ's outside so make sure you wear your ski pants! Get lots of rest and I will see you in the morning!

Paper Snow FlakeWhat a great day! We started off the day with our normal routine, spelling word, show not tell, and a doodle. Do you remember what we doodled today. It was out of this world! We read about a boy who is trying hard to be a good student. He is now very excited that he doesnt have to save money, because he has an even better idea! What is his idea? We went to language arts with Miss Gallant, check out her teacher page to see what we did! We sold off the rest of the items for our bake sale! We made a surprising amount. Do you know how much we made? Then we went skating at the LBA. Thank you for all the volunteers who came out and helped us tie skates and snap helmets. We got back just in time to go straight to choir. We need the practice because tomorrow at 10:30 the choir is going to the mount to sing! After lunch we had PE with Miss Grattan. Then we had music with Miss Gallant. After music, Miss Gallant showed us how to cut out a paper snow flake. Check out the picture of the day, they are super snowflakes! A memo went home today, there will be a pizza party after choir tomorrow for choir members. You will still need your drink and a recess snack. Friday is PJ Day and we will be walking to the United Church for our end of month assembly. We will have milk and cookies afterwards! Everyone is welcome, it will start at 12:30. Gets lots of rest, we are in the home stretch now!

Morning Chores by MitchellWhat an awesome day. We started off the day by jumping on the bus, and driving to Newcastle with the grades 2 and 3 students to deliver food to the foodbank. Its nice to see where that food that we've been collecting goes. Did you know the food bank serves over 400 families on the river? Thats a lot of help! We got back just in time to run our bake sale at little recess and have choir practice! After recess we had math. We continued to work on adding and mental math with friendly numbers. What is a friendly number? We stayed inside today because it was -20 at lunch! BRRRR!!! We had Mrs. McCarthy after lunch. Do you remember what we worked on. It was round but not a circle. Then we had a visit from Mr. Savoy! Something cool always happens when he's around! We had our first official Mystery Skype! Lillian noticed something that helped us alot. Do you remember what she saw? It was a hard game because we were playing against a grade 5 class! Guess who won? Do you remember where the other class was from? After our Mystery Skype (stay tuned for some pictures), we had cupcakes that Ryan brought in to celebrate something. I think I have it marked on the calendar, but I cant remember now. We finished off the day with 15 minutes of free time, and then did our closing activities. Tomorrow we have SKATING AT 10:00 AT THE LBA. On the off chance that there is a snow storm we will NOT be skating on Thursday. We only have the LBA booked for Wednesday. We will also clean up our bake sale tomorrow as we have some extra goodies to sell. Thursday the Choir is putting on a little show and Friday is our last day of school for 2013. Snow Much Fun by KatilinDespite the snow over half the class was here today! Everyone was marked present due to the storm, but please remember to send in a note! We did not go to the food bank this morning, we will be going tomorrow morning instead. We will also be having our bake sale at lunch tomorrow! We combien the grade threes today and just had one normal sized class. Check out Miss Gallants teacher page to see what we did in language arts today. In math we reviewed and worked on some mental math strategies. Do you remember what mental math is? We had PE with Miss Gallant (a different Miss Gallant). Do you remember what we talked about in health today? It was a very regular day today excepet, we did our end of day routine a little early today so that we could squeeze in some time in the computer lab! Your Turn, My Turn by GavinWe found Jodi hidden away in a desk today. Do you rember where she was? We had a great full dress rehearsal today, and we are very excited to perform tomorrow! We had a quick language arts class when we returned from JMH and went outside to play on this beautiful day. After lunch my projector bulb died! I know what I am asking Santa for! We finished up some special letters we are writing with Miss Gallant! Mr. Murphy came in to talk to us. Do you remember what he talked about? We also took some cool pictures. Running Man by GeorgiaWe started today with our first rehearsal at JMH for the Christmas Concert! All of the classes, the choir, the MC's, were all great! It should be a wonderful show. Georgia took todays picture. We have talked about lighting alot and using the timer, but this is the first one I've seen with lots of "lines". Great job! We came back to school in time for a quick math review and then had an indoor lunch. After lunch we we went to language arts with Miss Gallant where we worked on our persausive writing pieces! Check out Miss Gallants teacher page for this weeks spelling words. After language arts Mr. Waye came in to speak to us about science. We finished up the day dicussing some science topics we could use for our science fair after Christmas. Wednesday is our concert at JMH, so bring your smiles and your best singing voices. Reading Buddies by ThomasWhat a great day! Computers, tennis, spiderman, a coast gaurd rescue, and more! We started out the day with our regular opening routine. For our "Show NOT tell" we wrote about a crazy elf! I hope we have a wild elf, and not a crazy elf. In math we worked on using friendly numbers to help us estimate. Friendly numbers usually have zero's in them. What friendly numbers would you use to help you estimate 68+31= ?? We had choir at little recess. After little recess we had language arts. How is your letter coming? We went outside at lunch today. Im glad I had ski-pants! Its cold and wet outside for someone that doesnt, and I wouldnt want to get sick this close to Christmas, so dress warm! After lunch we jumped on the bus and went to the Linden Rec Center to play tennis! When we got back we finished up some writing in the book of gratitude, and headed to the computer lab to explore www.schooltube.com. I cant believe it is Friday tomorrow already! Get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning.
