Good Listeners by Georgia We started today off with Guidance with Mr. Murphy!  Do you remember what he was talking about?  After Guidance we put on our coats and hopped on a bus for Saint Andrews!  We saw a cool musician!  Not a magician!  I guess a couple of letters make a difference!  He was awesome, and so were the students of Ian Baillie!  We saw some old friends, classmates, and teachers.  It was a great time!  We got back in time to get outside and play!  We ate and watched some of the CBC streaming of the opening ceremonies of the olympics!  It looked very cool.  After lunch we went to JMH for floor hockey Friday with Miss McFarlene.  When we got back we worked on our heritage fair projects with Miss Gallant.  The girls in the room snuck away and changed all the tables and layout of the classroom!  They were like ninjas!  After Social Studies we did our Mystery box Draw!  Do you remember if Mikey chose the prize in the mystery box?  Have a great day and I will see you on Monday!

Smiling Back by TriciaWe started off today by running downstairs to library and changing out our books.  Walking really, we always walk in the halls!   We came back to the classroom and did our opening activities.   We did one spelling word and handed it in for a draw ballot.  You got to put your name in the draw if you set up the page correctly and did the activity correctly.  The word did not have to be spelled correctly!  Do you remember what the word was?  (hint: its how a bishop moves)  Then we looked at bar graphs in Math.  Make sure you label your axes when doing them!  We had recess and after recess we went to language arts with Miss Gallant.  We went to the computer room and worked on our heritage fair projects.  Remember to save your work to the H drive so it wont matter which computer you use.  We had an indoor recess at the lunch break.  After recess we went to JMH for PE.  We finished up gymnastics with teddy bear stands, front rolls and back rolls.  After PE we had art with Miss Gallant.  She had some cut out letters which she shared with us!  What did you use yours for? We finished off the day with the book of gratitude and got ready for home!  Tomorrow remember to wear a sports jersey or Canadian clothing to support Canada in the opening of the olympics.  We will also be heading to Saint Andrews for a Magic show.  I wonder if he will make Mrs. Hache dissapear?  Get lots of sleep and I will see you in the morning to find out!

All Aboard the Friend Ship by Thomas Today we started off the day with our opening activities.  We did a spelling word with 5 syllables.  Do you remember what it was?  (hint: You can do it without thinking)  Then we tried to solve a small problem.   What would you do if your friend was being mean?  We did our own doodles and then moved on to math!  In math we talked about line plots, tally charts, and axis.  Do you remember the two names of the axis in a chart?  We had recess.  After recess we had language arts.  We did a bit of work in the computer lab until the kindergarten came and frightened us off!  They are so scary!  Then we went back up to classroom and worked on our Heritage Fair Projects until it was time to go outside.  After Lunch we went to JMH for PE.  We worked on Teddy Bear stands and some of us even popped up into head stands!  After PE we had computer.  In computer we opened up paint for the first time and our email.  Then we were given some free time because we did our Winter walk outside!   It was a great walk and we even got to climb on some snow banks!  And just like that the day was over!

White Knight Rises by BenFirst school day of February and all was well!  We started off with a different twist to our language arts warm up.  I asked to students to complete the sentence  "When I grow up, I want to be ______ because _____".   Some students said, "But I think I want to be lots of different things!", so we just chose one for today.  What did you choose?  In language arts with Miss Gallant there are no spelling words this week.  Mr. McCallum may have borrowed Miss Gallants book and temporarily misplaced it!  OPPS!  Dont worry, I'll find it and we will have spelling again in no time!  Today in LA we worked on how to research!  This is great because we all have heritage fair projects that will require some research!  At recess we have begun to use 3M as the eating room, and 3G as the playing room.  You have to eat before you can play and you need to keep the food tidy and in one room.  After recess we had math.  In math we started out with a quick listening quiz that I posted on this page.  Did you find it hard?  We also talked about tally marks, data, and titles for charts, before we had to produce those things in our board work.  We didn't do anything in the textbook today.   We did get to go outside on this beautiful day!  Using one class as a lunchroom is working so nicely we have decided to all eat lunch in one classroom for a while too.  The students really seem to like this too!  After lunch we went to PE were we got out the big mats and did gymnastics.  Do you remember what we learned to day?  I know I couldn't do a back bridge!  Could you?  In social studies we worked on our Heritage fair project.  Those are coming along nicely!   We finished up the day with our closing activities, cleaning, organizing, books of gratitude, and agenda's!  It will be a full week and Friday we get to see a magician!  Get lots of sleep tonight and I will see you tomorrow.

We are continually working with our place value charts and saying and reading numbers properly.  Although some students are getting all of these correctly, this is a very hard quiz for many students!   Many of the numbers get read so quickly, but the scores are continually improving for everyone!  By the end of grade 3 we should be able to know all of our numbers from 0 to 9 999. How did you make out today on this quiz?

Mom and I by Mikey I have to start by thanking everyone for coming out to family literacy night last night!  What a great time!  I hope everyone had tons of fun!   We started the day by getting bundled up and heading to Saint Andrews Church for our school assembly!  Congratulations to Ryan Godfrey who came in third place in the Legion poster contest!  Trisha was also awarded the first Principals Award of the year!   We all did very well!  We came back in time to get our library books changed before recess!  After recess we went to language arts with Miss Gallant.   Five minutes before class was over Mrs. McCarthy came over the intercom and announced we would be going outside!  We were so excited!  After lunch we went up to JMH for PE with Miss McFarlene.  When we came back from PE we went to Art with Miss Gallant.  I hope I get to see your art in the halls of the school very soon!  We finished off the day going over the home and school fundraiser!  I was excited for someone in our class to win principal of the day, UNTIL they told me their first rule as principal would be to take away the coffee from all the teachers!  HOW CRUEL!  I know today felt like a Friday, but we still have a full day of school tomorrow, so get lots of sleep tonight!

View from my Desk by Ryan  Today was a day of with lots of change!  We started off with a change of teachers!  Mr. Lynch and Mrs. McCormick taught until lunch (because Mr. McCallum and Miss Gallant had meetings).  We got a new student today named Ben Park!  I think may be able to spot him in Ryans Picture of the Day.  Do you remember where he is from?  Tonight we have family literacy night here at the school from 6-7!  I hope to see you here!  Tomorrow we have our assembly at 9:00 at Saint Andrews Church!  All are welcome and please dress warmly because we will be walking!

Right... There! by Kaitlin I ran into a little problem yesterday with my post, sorry its late!   We started out yesterday with a spelling word from science that means more than just a guess, its our prediction!  Do you remember what the word was?  In math we had an oral test where the teacher said a number between 0 and 9 999, and the students wrote that number down.  We are still running into some problems with these.  How did you make out on the quiz?  After recess we had Miss Gallant for language arts.  This week we have THE SAME SPELLING WORDS AS LAST WEEK!    We are going to be experts on these words!  We also worked on our persausive writing.  I am getting some letters now trying to convince me to get the old desks back!  There is no desk change for at least two weeks!    We stayed indoors again today because it was just too cold!  After Lunch we went up to JMH for tally Tuesday!  How many laps did you get today?  When we came back we had guidance with Mr. Murphy.  When I walked past the classroom I noticed everyone had their shoes and socks off!  Does Mr. Murphy always let grade 3's go barefoot in the winter?  After guidance we had Science!  We talked about the scientific method and if all magnets have the same strength.  Do you they?  We'll find out soon enough!  We finished up the day with a talk about how we treat guests.  How do you treat guests in your home?  I hope its very well because Mr. Lynch will be our guest for the morning while Mr. McCallum is in meetings!  Get lots of sleep and I will see you tomorrow!
